I was fortunate to sit on the board of the Dart Centre Asia Pacific, during Karen's tenure as the Chairperson. Karen is organised and managed the many requirements of the governance of the organisation with precision, and was always inclusive, in ensuring everyone was a part of all conversations. I found Karen's commitment to First Nations knowledges and perspectives, something that was foundational in all of her work on the board. Karen drove organisational change through the introduction and modernisation of policies and procedures, and lifted the bar on governance practices. Karen's work around development of the strategy, and to keeping the board and organisation on track to deliver it made it brilliant to work with her.

Karen Percy gave a one hour seminar to barristers at the Victorian Bar about vicarious trauma. The session was perfectly tailored to meet common issues that arise for barristers in dealing with traumatised clients. Karen handled the subject matter with sensitivity and provided very useful, practical advice. The feedback from barristers who attended was overwhelming positive. I would highly recommend Karen as a speaker on vicarious trauma.

Karen is a warm and generous communicator. Complimented by a great introductory presentation, she quickly established a detailed picture of my working environments and helped me identify situations where I could implement simple but powerful strategies to confidently recognise and react to trauma responses. Vicarious trauma is something I’d experienced in relation to my work and was anxious to learn more about. I’m extremely grateful to Karen for her wisdom and experience in this area and for the many practical tricks and tips she offered in relation to recognising and minimising vicarious trauma, setting boundaries around workspaces and prioritising my own mental health in my professional role.
