The Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance is urging the ABC not to hand over to WA police footage from tonight’s Four Corners program about climate activism and the right to protest.

WA Police have issued an ‘Order to Produce’ notice to the ABC to handover protest footage ahead of tonight’s broadcast of “Escalation: Climate, protest and the fight for the future.

The episode focuses on the Burrup Peninsula in WA and the “increasingly combative confrontation between protesters and the state, according to the program’s website.

I spoke to Perth’s 6PR radio station on Friday about the gross overreach by police – and how it threatens to compromise journalist sources and media freed.
